EADS Corporate Social Responsibility Report

The challenge

Corporate & Social Responsibility writing for Europe's largest aerospace and defence group,  a group that makes half of the world's commercial aircraft (Airbus), a large share of its helicopters (Eurocopter) and is part owner of one of the world's largest missile manufacturers (MBDA). As its first CSR report, the 2009 review was an extremely sensitive project for EADS, and one which would help to define its nascent CSR messages.

Our role

Working with PricewaterhouseCoopers' Paris office and EADS' internal head of CSR, we attended over 20 interviews across EADS' European offices, gathering information. At the end of the process, we constructed a bullet point outline for validation by PwC, EADS' CSR team and the people we had interviewed. We then wrote drafts for the eventual approval of the Corporate Secretary and CEO.

The result

For the first time, EADS' CSR messages were defined and articulated in a single document. At a time of growing scrutiny, the document described EADS' policies concerning critical issues such as aircraft emissions and the ethics of defence. Additionally, it demonstrated how EADS is using technology to help solve some of the environmental and social problems the world currently faces.
